LOGPROG ON3MOH 5.3 - BOS! Logbook with CW, FT8, FT4, RTTY and SSTV
=================================================================
One program: the BOS! Logbook (log, spots, QRZ.com, ADIF for BCA / TOTA /
BLHA / BELMOTA / ONBOTA / ONFF / POTA / GMA, MAPS-TOOL) together with CW
decoding and sending, automatic FT8 / FT4, RTTY and SSTV.

Windows:  7, 8, 10 and 11 (64-bit) - nothing to install
Radios:   Yaesu FT-710, FTX-1, FTDX10, FT-991A, FT-891, FT-817 / FT-818
          Kenwood TS-480 · Elecraft KX3, KX2 · QRP Labs QMX
          Icom IC-7300, IC-7610, IC-705 · Xiegu X6100 · or "No CAT"

STARTING
  1. Extract the WHOLE zip file, for example to C:\LOGPROG ON3MOH
  2. Double-click "LOGPROG ON3MOH.exe"
  Full manual with screenshots: "LOGPROG ON3MOH - Manual.pdf"
  At the top:  📒 LOGBOOK | CW | FT8 | FT4 | RTTY | SSTV | SplitScreen | MAPS
  SplitScreen = logbook on the left and the mode (CW, FT8, FT4, RTTY, SSTV) on the
  right in the same screen; you can drag the border between them. Click
  SplitScreen again = mode only, click LOGBOOK = logbook only.
  The logbook is always within reach: if you look at the logbook while FT8
  is running, FT8 just keeps working.

YOUR DATA FROM BOS! LOGBOOK AND ON3MOH CQ PROG
  On the first start LOGPROG ON3MOH automatically takes over:
  - from BOS! Logbook: your log, station and activations, spot filters,
    settings, your radio model (with speed and CI-V address) and, if
    possible, your QRZ password and API keys;
  - from BOS LOG PROG (the previous name of this program): everything -
    log, settings, worked stations and SSTV pictures;
  - from ON3MOH CQ PROG: all settings, worked FT8 stations and SSTV
    pictures.
  If Settings › Logbook does not show "(saved)" next to the QRZ password,
  enter it once more.
  Backups stay in Documents\BOS Logbook\backups, as before.
  Do not run BOS! Logbook and LOGPROG ON3MOH at the same time: they share the
  COM port and port 2237. You may uninstall the old BOS! Logbook.
  The English and the Dutch version of LOGPROG ON3MOH use the same log and
  settings, so you can switch between them.

==================================================================
📒 LOGBOOK
==================================================================
RADIO
  - Choose your radio at the top of the radio panel (or ⚙ Settings › Radio)
    and click "Connect radio". You pick the COM port from a list; the last
    one used is at the top (Yaesu: the "Enhanced" port). Icom / Xiegu:
    speed and CI-V address are found automatically.
  - There is only one radio connection: logbook, CW, FT8, FT4, RTTY and SSTV
    all use the same one. So do NOT also click connect in another program.
  - Type a frequency in the green display and press Enter:
    14.244  or  14244  or  14.244.500.   Esc = cancel, F2 = go to the display.
    Mouse wheel = tune with the "wheel step".
  - Band and mode buttons; S-meter and RX/TX. "Radio tools & audio": VFO A/B,
    NR, NB, IPO, TUNE ... and volume / RF gain (Yaesu, Kenwood, Icom).
  - "No CAT (manual)": you enter frequency and mode yourself.

LOGGING A QSO
  - Type the callsign: the name comes from your log or from QRZ.com; you see
    right away whether it is a dupe (same call, band and the same
    references). Another reference = new QSO, not a dupe.
  - Their reference (what you hunt), RST, and Enter or "LOG QSO". Esc = clear.
  - QSOs from CW, FT8, FT4, RTTY and SSTV are added here automatically. The
    call they are working appears in the Call field right away (name lookup).

SPOTS
  Spots from BOS Spots (BOS!, WWFF, WWBOTA, GMA, DX clusters), every 30 s.
  Filters: 6 h / 2 h / 1 h / 15 min, 🇧🇪 Belgian only, per program, per
  mode, my band only, hide worked. Click a spot = tune and fill in call +
  reference (also when you click the reference). Red button "C" = the spot
  to the clipboard, e.g. "ON5SE 7.034 MHz CW POTA BE-0414 (13:42 UTC)".
  Right-click a spot = copy it, or open a blue (Belgian) reference on the
  BOS! MAPS-TOOL.
  "📣 Spot me" = spot yourself on BOS Spots, directly: frequency, mode and
  your activation are filled in, click Send. You log in with your BOS account
  (same callsign + password as BCA/TOTA/BLHA/BELMOTA); the password is stored
  encrypted.
  "★ Watch list" = calls, references or programmes (e.g. ON4ABC ON-00123 BCA
  PA*) you want an alert with sound for, in the spots and in FT8/FT4.
  At the top: "QSO BCA 37/50" = today's QSOs for your activation / minimum for
  a valid activation (green ✓ + alert when reached), and
  "☀ SFI 142 · K 2 · 40m good" = propagation (N0NBH). Minimums, watch list,
  propagation and BOS account: ⚙ Settings › Activation.
  DOUBLE-CLICK a spot = start working right away in the right mode:
  - CW spot: to the CW screen, call filled in, radio on that frequency
    (CW-U/CW-L as set); the decoder looks for the signal (Go to max).
  - FT8 / FT4 spot: to FT8 or FT4 on that band, TX frequency on that of the
    station. As soon as the station is decoded, the program calls it by
    itself (searches for max. 15 minutes; Stop TX = stop).
  - RTTY spot: to the RTTY screen, call filled in, radio tuned.

📍 STATION
  Your callsign, /P or /M, locator and what you activate: BCA, TOTA, BLHA,
  BELMOTA, ONBOTA, ONFF, POTA, GMA/SOTA, and OTHER (WWBOTA, WWFF, POTA, SOTA,
  IOTA, WCA abroad). Your references go into MY_SIG / MY_SIG_INFO of every
  QSO. Call and locator also apply to FT8 / FT4 / CW / RTTY / SSTV.

THE LOG
  ✎ = edit, ✕ = delete (double-clicking a row also = edit).
  [D] = dupe, QRZ✓ / QRZ… / QRZ✗ = status of the upload to QRZ.com.
  The newest QSO is always at the top.
  - 💾 Save ADIF file(s): for each activation the right file with the right
    name (like the ADIF Converter on the website) + the complete log. You
    choose the folder yourself (it is remembered). Then upload them on the
    website of each program.
  - 🚀 Upload to QRZ.com: only the QSOs that are not there yet.
  - 📥 Import ADIF (duplicate QSOs are skipped).
  - 🗂 New log: the current log is saved as a backup first.

QRZ.COM (⚙ Settings › Logbook)
  Username and password (name lookup, XML subscription needed), the
  Logbook API key(s) (home and /P or /M) and "upload every QSO
  automatically". Password and keys are encrypted with your Windows account.
  The upload runs in the background: you can keep logging.

WSJT-X / JTDX FROM OUTSIDE (⚙ Settings › Logbook)
  Still using WSJT-X, JTDX or MSHV? In that program: UDP Server 127.0.0.1,
  port 2237, "Accept UDP requests" on. What you log there ends up in the log
  here (at the top you see "WSJT-X linked").

🗺️ MAPS
  The BOS! MAPS-TOOL opens in its own window. In the info panel of a
  reference, "Activate … in the logbook" puts that reference in your
  activation. "My location" uses the Windows location service, otherwise
  wifi networks or your locator. If the map window does not work on your PC,
  the map opens in your normal browser by itself (can also be set under
  Settings › Logbook).
  The MAPS-TOOL website itself is in Dutch.

LIGHT / DARK
  Button ☀️ / 🌙 at the top (or ☰ > Light / dark): light mode is easier to
  read outdoors in the sun.

WINDOW
  You may make it bigger and smaller; in a narrow window the buttons move
  under ☰ and the panels stack. Always on top: 📌.

SMALL SCREEN / LAPTOP (⚙ Settings › Screen)
  On a small screen LOGPROG ON3MOH switches to a compact view by itself
  (smaller margins and buttons). Under "Screen" you can choose:
    Compact: automatic / always on / never
    Size: 80 % to 150 % (everything smaller or bigger, text too)
  Restart the program after changing.
  Still too big? Set the Size to 90 % or 80 %.
  FT8/FT4 always shows the latest lines (unless you have just scrolled up
  yourself: after 20 s it jumps back to the latest line).

==================================================================
FT8 / FT4
==================================================================
RADIO
  LOGPROG ON3MOH sets the radio to DATA-U (Yaesu) or USB-D (Icom) and to the
  FT8/FT4 frequency of the chosen band by itself. PTT goes via CAT.
  Yaesu: set the data input to USB in the menu (DATA MOD SOURCE = USB / REAR).
  Icom IC-7300 / IC-7610: SET > Connectors > DATA MOD = USB.
  TX level (tab Transmit): set it so that the ALC just does not move.

CLOCK
  FT8 needs a clock that is correct to within about 1 second. LOGPROG ON3MOH
  sets its own clock via the internet (NTP). At the top you see "NTP" and
  the average DT of the stations (should be close to 0.0 s).

THE SCREEN
  - Choose the band at the top; click in the spectrum = your TX frequency.
  - When you call a station (double-click or Automatic), your TX frequency
    jumps to the frequency of that station, as in WSJT-X.
    Rather stay on your own free frequency (like "Hold Tx Freq")?
    Switch that off in the Transmit tab. Stations answering your CQ are
    always answered on your own frequency.
  - Band activity (as in WSJT-X):
      bright green = CQ  (★ = CQ POTA/SOTA/BOTA/TOTA/MOTA... or /P station)
      dull green = CQ from a station you have already worked
      red          = message for you
      blue         = your own transmission
    Other colours? Choose under "Colours" (above the band activity):
      CQ green/TX blue, CQ red/TX yellow, CQ red/TX blue, CQ blue/TX yellow,
      CQ green/TX yellow. (If CQ is red, messages for you are purple.)
    Double-click a message = call that station. Clicked a little late (up
    to about 2 s into your period, FT4 1 s)? It still transmits in the same
    period, as WSJT-X does.
  - QSO window (right): only the conversation with the stations you are
    working: CQ, calls, reports, repeats, RR73 and 73. Double-click a
    received (red) line = answer that station again, e.g. RR73 once more
    if he did not hear you (a logged QSO is not logged again).
  - Call CQ: call CQ; whoever answers is worked automatically.
  - Automatic: LOGPROG ON3MOH calls CQ stations passing the filters by itself,
    completes the QSO (report, RR73, 73) and logs it.
  - TX even/1st (as in WSJT-X): on = transmit in the 1st/even period
    (FT8: :00 and :30), off = 2nd/odd period (:15 and :45). Decides when
    you call CQ. When you call a station, it switches by itself to the
    opposite period of that station.
  - Stop TX: stop transmitting immediately (Automatic goes off too).
  - Tx1 ... Tx6 (as in WSJT-X), below the QSO window:
      Tx1 = call (call + locator)   Tx4 = RR73
      Tx2 = report                  Tx5 = 73
      Tx3 = R + report              Tx6 = CQ
    ● shows which message is being sent now (or next).
    Click a Tx button = send that message next (e.g. send the report once
    more). "Rep" = the report you send.
  - Calling a call yourself (as in WSJT-X): type the call in "DX Call"
    (locator optional), click "Gen msgs" or press Enter: Tx1-Tx5 are filled
    in, nothing is sent yet. Then click Tx1, or "Call" straight away.
    Heard recently? Then you transmit in the right period with the right report.
  - You can drag the border between the QSO window and the tabs below it,
    and the one below the band window (bigger/smaller spectrum and waterfall).
  - Next to the clock: waterfall colours (Classic as in WSJT-X, Blue/white,
    Purple/orange, Green, Fire, Grey), Contrast and Brightness. While
    transmitting the waterfall pauses (no white lines when switching over).

FILTERS (tab Filters) - for automatic calling
  - Only CQ from: tick POTA, SOTA, BOTA, TOTA, MOTA, WWFF, GMA, WCA or IOTA.
    Then only stations calling "CQ POTA ...", "CQ BOTA ..." etc. are
    called. Nothing ticked = all CQs.
  - /P:  "/P does not matter"      = with and without /P
         "Only stations with /P" = /P only (together with the ticks: both)
         "Program CQ or /P station" = the ticked program CQs AND also
                                     every /P station
  - Only new stations (not yet worked on this band and mode)
  - Skip directed CQ (CQ DX, CQ NA ...); program CQs are still called
  - Exclude: calls that are never called or answered. Use * as wildcard
    and several in a row, e.g. PA* PD* ON4ABC (= all PA and PD calls and
    ON4ABC). Also with /P or a prefix (OE/PA3XYZ).
  - Minimum signal strength, call starts with (e.g. ON, PA)
  Examples:
    only BOTA/TOTA/MOTA, with or without /P -> tick BOTA TOTA MOTA,
                                               /P does not matter
    only POTA/SOTA activators with /P -> tick POTA SOTA,
                                               only stations with /P

SEVERAL STATIONS AT ONCE (tab Automatic)
  When you call CQ and several stations answer, LOGPROG ON3MOH can work up to
  4 at the same time, each on its own frequency (+60, +120, +180 Hz).
  Note: your power is shared: 2 stations = -3 dB each,
  3 stations = -4.8 dB each, 4 stations = -6 dB each. Default is 1.

STOP AUTOMATICALLY AFTER ... (tab Automatic)
  Safety stop, called "Tx watchdog" in WSJT-X: if you do nothing in the
  program for that long (no click, no key), it stops transmitting by itself
  and Automatic goes off. Every click or key press resets the counter.
  Choice: per quarter of an hour up to 4 hours, per hour up to 12 hours, or
  "Never (continuous)". Default 30 min. At the top of the QSO panel you see
  "stops in .. min".
  Automatic operation must be supervised by the operator: stay with your
  station, certainly if you choose "continuous".

LOGGING
  Every completed QSO goes into the logbook automatically: FT8 as FT8, FT4
  as FT4 (ADIF: MFSK + SUBMODE FT4), with reports and locator, and with your
  activation (📍 Station).

PRACTISING WITHOUT A RADIO
  Sound card "Simulation": in FT8/FT4 you then get a simulated band with
  stations calling CQ (some with /P) that really answer. So you can safely
  try out Automatic, the filters and several stations at once.

GOOD TO KNOW
  - The FT8/FT4 decoder is ft8_lib (open source, MIT). It is less sensitive
    than WSJT-X/WSJT-Z: FT8 down to about -19 dB, FT4 down to about -14 dB
    (WSJT-X reaches -21 to -24 dB). So very weak stations are not shown.
  - Compound calls (e.g. OE/DL1ABC/P) sometimes appear as <...>, as in
    WSJT-X; they are not called automatically.

==================================================================
RTTY
==================================================================
RADIO
  When you click RTTY the program sets the radio to DATA-L (Yaesu) or
  LSB-D (Icom) and to the RTTY frequency of the chosen band. Mark = 2125 Hz,
  shift 170 Hz, 45.45 baud (standard for amateur RTTY). PTT via CAT,
  audio via the TX sound card (Settings > FT8/FT4).

THE SCREEN (like MMTTY)
  - Click an RTTY signal in the waterfall, or press "Go to max": the program
    finds the strongest tone pair by itself and tunes to it.
  - AFC follows a signal that drifts a little. REV swaps mark and space
    (needed if your radio is in USB/DATA-U). USOS: back to letters after a
    space (on by default).
  - Baud: 45.45 / 50 / 75 / 100.  Shift: 170 / 200 / 425 / 850 Hz.
  - Squelch: text is only shown when the signal is strong enough (green bar
    past the orange mark) - so you get no noise characters.
  - Double-click a callsign in the text = into the Call field.

TRANSMIT
  Type text + Enter, or click a button: CQ, Reply, Report, QSL, BTU, 73,
  QRZ?, Contest. Right-click a button to change its text.
  In the text you can use: {MYCALL} {MYNAME} {MYQTH} {CALL} {RST}
  {NAME} {UTC} {DATE}.  Stop = stop immediately.
  "Log QSO" puts the QSO in the logbook with mode RTTY.

==================================================================
SSTV
==================================================================
RADIO
  When you click SSTV the radio goes to DATA-U (Yaesu) or USB-D (Icom) on
  the SSTV frequency of the band (20m = 14.230). PTT via CAT.

MODES (receive and transmit)
  Martin M1, M2 - Scottie S1, S2, DX - Robot 36, 72 -
  PD 50, 90, 120, 160, 180, 240, 290 - Wraase SC2-180 - Pasokon P3, P5, P7

RECEIVE (like MMSSTV)
  - Start automatically (VIS): the program recognises the VIS code at the
    start of a picture, chooses the right mode and starts receiving.
  - Auto-slant: a slanted picture (clock difference between the sound cards
    of sender and receiver) is straightened automatically. A small tuning
    error (up to about 100 Hz) is corrected as well.
  - Missed the VIS? Choose the mode under "Start without VIS in" and click
    Start RX.
  - Still slanted or shifted? Set "Clock" (ppm) and "Shift" and click
    Redraw. The clock value is also used for the next pictures.
  - Every received picture is saved in
      %APPDATA%\LOGPROG ON3MOH\SSTV   (right-click the strip = open folder)
    The last 40 pictures are shown at the bottom; click = view again.

TRANSMIT
  - Choose the mode (with its transmit time) and a template: CQ, Reply or 73.
    You may change the three text lines; they are remembered per template.
    You can use: {CALL} {MYCALL} {RST} {NAME} {MYNAME} {MYQTH} {MYGRID}
    {DATE} {UTC} {MODE}.
  - Background...: your own photo (cropped to fit).
  - Reply with this: the received picture goes along small in your reply,
    as in MMSSTV (tick "Include received picture" on or off).
  - Send picture / Stop. TX level so low that the ALC does not move.
  - "Log QSO" puts the QSO in the logbook with mode SSTV (report RSV, 595).
  - In a narrow window you switch with the buttons Receive / Transmit.

NOT (OR NOT YET) AVAILABLE COMPARED TO MMSSTV / YONIQ
  The narrow MMSSTV modes (MP, MR, ML), FSK-ID, the repeater function, and
  YONIQ extras such as QRZ lookup and frequency memories.

PRACTISING WITHOUT A RADIO
  With the sound card "Simulation", "Demo station" lets a station call CQ in
  RTTY, and in SSTV a picture comes in (with a bit of slant, to see the
  automatic correction).

==================================================================
CW
==================================================================
  - BK-IN (break-in) ON: without break-in you only hear the tone and the
    radio does NOT transmit. LOGPROG ON3MOH switches BK-IN on by itself.
  - Yaesu: CW MEMORY 5 = TEXT (factory setting). Icom: CI-V USB Port = Unlink.
  - TX test: checks everything; "Listening test" plays E E without
    transmitting.
  - CW-U / CW-L: the program chooses by band, like LSB/USB for SSB: below
    10 MHz (160, 80, 60, 40 m) CW-L, above that CW-U. Want it differently?
    Choose CW-U or CW-L at the bottom under "Mode" or in the logbook.
    From CW to FT8/FT4/RTTY/SSTV and back: the radio returns to your CW
    frequency with the right sideband. Changing band on the radio itself:
    CW-L/CW-U follows.
  - Enter = log (in Call, RST or Name, or after double-clicking a call in the
    received text). The same in RTTY and SSTV.
  - Type text + Enter = send; Stop or Esc = stop.
  - Fill in the call (or double-click it) + "Log QSO" = log it in the
    logbook.

PROBLEMS
  - Error about "api-ms-win-crt" or "DLL" (Windows 7/8): install the
    "Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x64)" and start again.
  - "No answer from the radio": right radio and COM port? Close other
    programs using the port (old BOS! Logbook, WSJT-X, flrig ...).
  - FT8: no decodes? Right sound card? Signals visible in the waterfall?
    DT far from 0? Then the clock is not right (internet needed for NTP).
  - FT8: radio does not transmit? Check the TX sound card and the DATA MOD
    setting.
  - RTTY: only garbage? Try REV (mark/space swapped) or check that the radio
    is in DATA-L.
  - SSTV: picture does not start by itself? Start missed or no VIS: use
    Start RX with the right mode. Colours too dark/light: check the tuning.
  - On a start-up error: see %APPDATA%\LOGPROG ON3MOH\fout.log
